What we are doing?
- Promoting an informed dialogue on the prospect of incorporation, supporting RDOS in completing a Boundary Configuration Study to define the area potentially being incorporated
- Developing a ‘brand’ as Heart of Wine Country, and building community spirit / engagement through initiatives such as Banners and highway signage
- Promoting the community through Visitor Information Centre and Relocation Guide
- Promoting growth and investment by addressing obstacles to investment
What have we done?
- Established an ‘Okanagan Falls Community Fund’ through the South Okanagan Community Foundation, providing a fund that prioritizes community sustainability
- Prepared a ‘Relocation Guide’, in collaboration with RDOS for distribution to prospective residents and / or new businesses
- Initiated an informed discussion on the prospect of incorporation, requesting a Boundary Configuration Study (now started) that may be followed by a cost benefit study for incorporating Okanagan Falls as a municipal district
- Elevated the status of our ‘Visitor Information Centre’, now formally recognized by DestinationBC
- Installed Main Street ‘Banners’ promoting community ‘brand’ and local businesses, in collaboration with Fortis
- Replaced ‘Welcome / Farewell’ Highway signage, with RDOS
- Prepared an ‘Economic Development & Recovery Plan (2020)’, in collaboration with RDOS
- Surveyed residents, receiving strong feedback and ideas for the future of Okanagan Falls
- Created a not-for-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors
